Finger

One other nice thing that happened to me this autumn is that I hurt my finger.
Accidentally left it to be caught between the door of the safe. Felt so nice.

Teki niin hyvää.....

Sweden Autumn 2009

Been a while and a lot has happened.
Don't know where to start, but maybe from the trip to Sweden I made with a friend.
She's probably waiting for some pictures out of that trip.... :P

As some of you might know, I have this little fixation of cooking and putting some spices in them.... That is.. my dad doesn't really like my experiments so much, but hey...
Who asks him?

So, one reason for my trips to Sweden is to buy some spices from shop that isn't in Finland, and the nearest is in Stockholm, just across the Baltic sea. So off we went again. This time I didn't have my crutches with me.

On the ship we had this little cabin for two, which was nice, and though we were supposed to go to sleep early, we didn't manage to do that... Again.
Of course we took a trip around the ship, sightseeing shopping a little. On the deck there was pretty much nobody. Maybe because it was so darned dark that nothing could be seen, or that the wind was so strong it was hard to stay on the deck instead of flying off it.

One of the down sides of going to Stockholm for a day is that the ship arrives to port at 6am, and nothing is open before 9/10am. So we had some three hour spare time on our hands and nothing to do. So....
My friend was lucky to find this small restaurant that opened up at 7.30am. So we ate breakfast there. Then we went with the tunnelbana to find a shop, which was a lost cause, since it wasn't there where the google had directed me in the first place. Well, she liked it, to see the places we wouldn't otherwise ever gone to. I was a bit pissed. Finally, with the instructions of a local we found the shop we were looking, but it was still sometime due to their opening hour. So we went to walk in the central of the city and found some tourist shops that were open.
With some additional oddities.

So the shops finally opened and we got to spend some money. Some hours later we directed our way to Gamla Stan and a vegetarian restaurant there to eat. We were full.

After eating we started tacking our way from Gamla Stan toward the northern shore of the little island. By this time the rain that had started dropping in the morning had faded away and changed into sunshine.

From there we could see our destination, which was the Swedish National Museum.

There was this exhibition of the history of furnitures and other things. Some of the things we came across were funny. Like I'd never thought to see the Finnish scissors of Fiskars of Marimekko-fabric in a national museum:

One of my favorite paintings was this, which looked like a smoky lake, with morning dust rising from it, when instead it was something else entirely. I forgot who the painter was. This is just a close up of the whole painting.

(all pictures only for my personal use, no copying, no offense meant to any rights, owners of the paintings or the exhibition)

After the museum we went walking to our final destination and sightseeing in the meantime also. We passed by this Swedish opera house.

And also saw some street art.

Finally after finishing our shopping thirst we headed for the terminal, but since we had some hour or so to kill the time we sat in a small park that was filled with rats running around. Wouldn't have been surprised to find a dead body there that the scavengers might have been eating.

We got to the ship and headed back to home. At port while waiting for our transport we were sorrily surrounded by Japanese tourists and I think we might be in some of their photos....
